Unreliable arguments against athletes accused of doping

Several athletes that are suspected of steroid use become targets of the government. Feds do almost everything in order to learn whether certain sportspersons have used any performance-enhancing drugs. They don’t spare taxpayers’ funds for this goal. Much money is wasted to reveal even private life of sportspersons. According to the government, certain details of their private behavior can reveal the truth about intake of banned products. Thus, girlfriends of certain athletes are interviewed by federal prosecutors.
For example, it has been reported that former girlfriends of Lance Armstrong and Roger Clemens and a former mistress of Barry Bonds have been asked about several details connected with private life of these athletes. Which questions were asked?
Kimberly Bell, a former mistress of Barry Bonds, was asked about size of testicles of this baseball player. She affirmed that the athlete’s testicles were shrunken. So, her words served as an argument that Barry Bonds applied steroids and/or other prohibited medications.
It is known that shrinkage of testicles is included in unwanted results of some steroids. Thus, the government decided to learn whether Barry Bonds had had this trouble. But it is a poor argument in order to prove that someone has taken several prohibited preparations. Consumers of steroids may avoid this negative reaction, if they take some medicines for this need.
Mindy McCready, a former mistress of Roger Clemens, was asked whether this former baseball player had had erectile dysfunctions. The singer said that sometimes Roger Clemens had suffered from this problem.
When it comes to erectile dysfunctions, they may occur during application of steroids. But if you study information about negative results of steroids more attentively, you can understand that this problem is more likely to appear after discontinuation of application. It happens because natural production of testosterone is normally suppressed by administration of exogenous testosterone. But since there are such preparations that have ability to restore natural secretion of testosterone, erectile dysfunctions can be prevented.
Sheryl Crow, a former girlfriend of Lance Armstrong, was also interviewed by the government. But questions are not known. According to some suppositions, she might have been asked also about sexual abilities of the cyclist.
In fact, the government has a mistaken point of view in this case. However testicular atrophy and erectile dysfunctions may occur because of steroids, these arguments are not suitable.
