A valuable research was conducted at Lulea University of Technology and Umea University. Specialists studied and determined relations between application of steroids, body fat distribution and certain side results of anabolic steroids. The research has manifested that users of steroids may experience abnormal fat distribution that can cause heart attacks and other problems related to cardiovascular system.
The results of the study and conclusions are published in The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.
10 elite lifters from Sweden were involved in the research. They use anabolic steroids regularly. Thus, it was studied role of steroids in fat distribution.
It is affirmed that lifters that apply anabolic-androgenic steroids have risks suffering from heart attacks. It has been studied by specialists at Lulea University of Technology and Umea University the way body fat is distributed in lifters who apply steroids having anabolic and androgenic properties. It has been seen that unhealthy fat distribution may be a reason for dysfunctions of cardiovascular system.
The lifters that were involved in the study were divided into two groups. Body fat distribution was studied in lifters of the two groups. The lifters of one group applied anabolic steroids. The lifters of another group didn’t use steroids.
The study has shown that those who administer steroids have more reduced fat deposits below the waist. So, they have more reduced levels of gynoid fat.
DEXA scanner which is ordinarily applied to study osteoporosis has been utilized in order to measure fat distribution during the study.
