Dana White expresses loyalty for athletes with hypogonadism that should use steroids

Usage of anabolic steroids for testosterone replacement therapy by sportsmen is a controversial issue. There are a lot of debates linked with it. It is known by everyone that anabolic steroids and several other related medications are banned in numerous sports organizations. But if a person should apply these medications under indications of his/her doctor for medical needs, he/she should get a therapeutic use exemption. Although it is allowed to apply even anabolic steroids for therapeutic purposes, such athletes are frequently blamed and called “cheaters”. In fact, it is unfair.
What does Dana White, the UFC president, state about usage of steroids for testosterone replacement therapy? Does he blame fighters that take steroids in order to enhance their decreased levels of testosterone? Dana White claims that any person with hypogonadism should apply steroids, if these drugs are prescribed by his physician. Although it is fair, let notice why several sportspersons have reduced testosterone levels. It is proven scientifically that steroid abuse may lead to suppression of natural testosterone production. Thus, several fighters and other athletes that have taken previously steroids for performance-enhancing effects may have hypogonadism. Hence, their health care providers recommend them applying certain steroids in order to increase their testosterone levels.
According to Dana White, testosterone replacement therapy is legal for all individuals, including professional athletes. So, if any athlete experiences hypogonadism, he should be allowed to administer steroids indicated by his physician. He should get normal testosterone levels that characterize any healthy man of his age.
But Dana White makes it clear that any fighter or another sportsperson that takes anabolic steroids and/or other banned medications for athletic purposes must be suspended from competitions. It is needed to make difference between those that administer steroids for clinical needs and those that want to gain muscle mass and strength with the help these medications. Nobody is allowed to apply anabolic steroids for performance-enhancing effects. It is prohibited in sports. Those that break anti-doping rules should be punished. Sports must be free from doping.
It seems to be strange that affirmations of the UFC president differ substantially from statements presented by anti-doping officers. As you know, words of certain anti-doping officers for steroid users are much harsher than those pronounced by the UFC president.
